Rebecca White makes her own way. She’ll dress as a man to support her mother if she chooses, she’ll participate in illegal gaming if it pleases her, and she’ll even cheat a lord now and then if the idea catches her fancy. But what she didn’t count on was an entire family of White’s tracking her down and being just as stubborn and independent as—well—herself. Nor did she bet on their handsome lawyer, Jacob Veritas, stirring feelings that have no place in her life.
He’s the perfect gentleman…
Which is why he can’t understand his instant attraction to the delicate beauty, Rebecca White. Yes, she is strong, capable, smart as hell, and exciting beyond measure. But he’s a man who lives by the law and Rebecca, she’s never met a rule she didn’t wish to break.
But as her world begins to crumble about her, Jacob can’t help himself, he has to rescue her. The law is a pillar after all and if it can hold up society, surely it can aid one woman in need?
But his heart, there might be no saving that.

About the author
USA Today Bestselling Author, Tammy Andresen lives with her husband and three children just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. She grew up on the Seacoast of Maine, where she spent countless days dreaming up stories in blueberry fields and among the scrub pines that line the coast. Her mother loved to spin a yarn and Tammy filled many hours listening to her mother retell the classics. It was inevitable that at the age of 18, she headed off to Simmons College, where she studied English literature and education. She never left Massachusetts but some of her heart still resides in Maine and her family visits often.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to everyone.
Oh my, I do think this one is so far my favorite in this series.
I so love a beta hero instead of the all Caveman/Me Tarzan/alpha man. And Jacob is just that. He has the same desire than any caring man to protect the woman he came to care about but he takes blows and goes down being no fighter. As a more brain than brawn fellow, his strength resides elsewhere than in his fists. His first encounter with Rebecca ends with him on the ground. Yet like all the author’s hero, he has his own scars, past wounds he fights but quickly lays to rest as soon he acknowledges he has met his cure. A hero at ease with a woman able to fend herself brutes and even rescue him.
Rebecca is no prudish debutante, she is Holden able to stand her ground in any fight, something Jacob will learn at his expenses but also for his own safety. She too shares the willful stubborn streak of the Whites. So she won’t surrender her cherished freedom without asserting there will be no dominating-dominant.
For those two, it is an easy tale of few compromises, but real acceptance and full partnership from the point they acknowledge their feelings.

Bec is masquerading as a young boy and has been for years, it’s the only way to keep the wolf from the door.
Her parents business is now being targeted by thieves, and Bec’s is struggling to keep her identity a secret. When a deep voice and a man with a handsome face intrude into her life the secret maybe on the verge of discovery.
But what happens when the wolves start circling?
A brilliant last book in this series, I think all fans have been dying to know Becs identity and where exactly she fits in, bravo Tammy another wonderful story.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
This might be my favorite book in this series. There is romance, adventure, a dash of danger, and a dose of suspense. Rebecca courts danger, and it follows her where she goes. However, now, with the Whites on her side, those who would do her harm better think again. Then, there’s Jacob. Neither Rebecca, nor the esteemed lawyer intended on falling in love, but love has nothing to do with intentions. It was just supposed to be a job for Jacob. He was supposed to find the lost White sibling. However, once he found her, he could not let her go. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like Regency romance with suspense.

(Dark Duke’s Legacy #6)
Written by: Tammy Andresen
Loved this fast paced story of the missing White sibling, Rebecca White. Everyone thought Barrister Jacob Veritas was looking for a young man; as it turns out, long lost half-sister Rebecca White has been pretending to be a boy.
In order to make money to support herself and her parents she would disguise herself as a boy recording the bets made at the fight club.
Was Jacob shocked, well for a moment yes, but then he recounted they only knew he was to look for a R. White…they had all made the wrong assumption. Here is the thing, the more he talks to Rebecca White, the more he learns about her, he’s beginning to like her. He also feels protective of her; after all working at night is dangerous enough for a woman disguise or no disguise. If they realize Bec the boy is a woman, there will be trouble and her parents have had enough trouble already.
The banter back and forth between Rebecca and Jacob is fast and witty. Both have agendas and each is bound and determined to get their way. With the impending arrival of several of the White siblings, yet another break-in and a growing attraction between Rebecca and Jacob, what else could happen?
Well, this is the White family after all so lot’s can happen. Tammy Andresen has again given readers another book in the Dark Duke’s Legacy series that is a fast paced, entertaining story that finds the missing White family member and brings back several of the White brothers. Add in a little bit of steam and we have another wonderful read in this Regency series!
