A Reader's Opinion: BEYOND REASON by Kat Martin

Updated: Feb 4, 2020

A READER'S OPINION

A fantastic start to a promising new trilogy! BEYOND REASON by Kat Martin is the first novel in her new Texas trilogy, and boy does she bring the heat. Carly Drake inherited her grandfather's trucking business, not exactly a job people think she's cut out to handle. However, Carly is determined to prove that you can succeed and make her grandfather proud. She doesn't expect the handsome, multi-millionaire Lincoln Cain to swoop in and try to take over her life . . . not that doing so would be a bad thing. Seriously, Lincoln Cain—Linc—is definitely magnetic, charming, and everything in between. The secondary characters are numerous, but all play an integral part and don't overtake the story.

From the characters to the detailed settings to the fast-paced suspense, the author packs quite a punch with plenty of action, multiple twists, a few surprises, and a sexy-as-all-get-out romance. Martin set the scene for the next book and I can't wait to read it!

BOOK SYNOPSIS

New York Times bestselling author Kat Martin raises chills as danger stalks a woman determined to make it in a man’s world . . . Five weeks ago Carly Drake stood at her grandfather’s grave. Now she’s burying Drake Trucking’s top driver, and the cops have no leads on the hijacking or murder. Faced with bankruptcy, phone threats and the fear of failure, Carly has to team up with the last man she wants to owe—Lincoln Cain. Cain is magnetic, powerful, controlling—and hiding more than one secret. He promised Carly’s granddad he’d protect her. The old man took a chance on him when he was nothing but a kid with a record, and now he’s the multi-millionaire owner of a rival firm. But Linc’s money can’t protect Carly from the men who’ll do anything to shut her down, or the secrets behind Drake Trucking. If she won’t sell out, the only way to keep her safe is to keep her close . . . and fight like hell.
